Installation Prerequisites

Overview

This article helps you to understand the requirements you'll have before installing Hotcakes Commerce on any development computer or server.

Requirements

In order to be able to proceed with the information in this article, you'll need to be familiar with the following prerequisites:

• Familiarity with administrating a Windows computer and/or server
• Familiarity with installation and management of Internet Information Services
• Familiarity with installation and management of SQL Server

Windows

Hotcakes Commerce requires one of the following versions of Windows:

Desktop/Laptop

• Windows 8/8.1
• Windows 10

Server

• Windows Server 2008 R2
• Windows Server 2012 R2

Internet Information Services (IIS)

IIS is the web server application that allows Hotcakes to run and be distributed to website visitors.  You'll need to have one of the following versions of IIS installed:

• IIS 7.5, 8, 8.5, or 10

ASP.NET

ASP.NET is the development platform that Hotcakes is built on.  You'll need to make sure that the following version of .NET is installed:

• 4.5.1 or newer

SQL Server

SQL Server is the database engine where all data is stored and managed for Hotcakes.  You'll need to have one of the following SQL Server versions available for Hotcakes to run:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (including Express)
• Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (including Express)
• Microsoft Azure SQL Database
