Overview
Price groups let you create adjusted amounts for customers using a specific grouping. You can set price groups for specific customers or groups of customers, but they are mostly used for business to business scenarios. A couple of common examples include having a group of VIP customers, or a group for your partner program. You can discount by percentage, reduce the price by a certain amount, or set a specific amount based on the price group.

Managing Price Groups
You can set a price group from the People menu and then clicking Price Group.
When you first arrive, there won't be any price groups created. You'll need to create your own.
You can use the left panel to create a new price group at any time.
As you add new price groups, they'll automatically be added into the price group listing, but they'll initially do nothing. You have to change the settings for it to do anything further.
Column | Description |
Name | This is the value you will see here in the administration area to know what the price group is for. You should be as specific as possible in the naming of the group, as it will appear in other areas as a drop down list item. Your customers will never see this value. |
Pricing Type | This field allows you to specify how you want to adjust pricing for the customers in this grouping. The specific values and what they apply to are discussed below. This value will work together with the next setting to apply your pricing strategy. |
Adjustment Amount | The amount you enter here will be applied using the method you choose in the previous setting. The value you enter here much match the expected value in the pricing type, currency or percentage. |
[no name] | This is an editing column. The only option you have here is to remove a price group. This is a permanent action that can't be undone. If you accidentally delete a price group, you simply need to recreate it. |
Once you apply your preferred changes, click the Save Changes button.
Applying a Price Group
Creating a price group alone does nothing. You also need to apply it in some way for it to have any affect.
You can use a price group directly on customers, indirectly through promotions, or both. It's up to you. The primary way price groups are use is by updating the customer user account for any customers that should be in a specific price group.

The pricing type specifies how you wish to apply the amount to anyone that happens to be in the price group.
