If you've configured taxes, Hotcakes will continue to help you keep track of your sales tax payments for your transactions. You can run a report based on a predefined set of dates or your own custom range. The report will only display taxes for orders that have been fulfilled (payment and shipping are complete, and the order is marked as complete).
The following prerequisites will be necessary to accomplish the goals of this article:
- Have access to your Hotcakes store administration
- Have sales taxes setup and have at least one order completely fulfilled
This report will continue to have empty data until your store has at least one order placed that includes sales tax. That order will need to be fulfilled as well.
Sales Tax Report
To find this report, click the Sales Tax Report from the Report menu in the control panel.
If your store has any tax schedules created and as long as you've collected taxes from at least one customer, you'll see a report similar to the one below. You may or may not need to adjust the date range to see the results you expect.
The report includes a grid of tax areas, followed by an export feature. This export feature makes it easy for you to report your taxes to the appropriate team(s) in your company, such as your accounting department. Click click the export button, and give them the downloaded Excel spreadsheet.
|Country||In the very least, your report will contain a value in this column. This helps you to determine which tax jurisdiction this row is reporting on. If the region column is empty, then this row is reporting on the taxes collected for the entire country.|
|Region||This is the region or state that the taxes were collected for. If you see a valid region here, then this includes taxes collected for all more granular jurisdictions too (e.g., postal codes).|
|Total Tax||This column displays the sum total of all taxes collected in this jurisdiction for the selected time period.|
