Settings: Product Reviews

Overview

You can allow your users to review products they purchased by turning on product review options.  Your customers are already allowed to submit reviews by default.  This includes both a star-rating (1-5) as well as a written review.  This article discusses how to manage the settings at the store level for this feature.

Requirements

The following prerequisites will be necessary to accomplish the goals of this article:

• Have access to your Hotcakes store administration
• Have an understanding of the best practices of managing an effective review/rating program

Getting Started

There are no prerequisites to follow along with this article.

Product Review Administration

Click the Settings menu item and then click Product Reviews.

Now, you can manage how or if your review program will be used on your store.

Setting	Description
Moderate Product Reviews	This is checked by default, and when it is, it gives you the opportunity to review the review before other customers see it.  In general, while moderation sounds like a good idea, customers generally dislike it greatly and will rarely add more than a single review on any site that has a review process.  Customers enjoy instant gratification instead.
Allow Product Rating	By default, this setting is also checked.  When checked, this enables product reviews and ratings to be seen and created by your customers.
Show How Many Reviews at First	Your site will initially only show 3 reviews on the product details view.  If you wish to show more or less reviews, change this value to the desired whole number.

Click the "Save Changes" button to save any updates you made.

When enabled, your customers see this feature primarily shown on the product details pages, as shown below.
